We have some drawings that have DIN standards called out that we are trying to find the equivilant ASTM standards. Any idea of where we might find something that list ASTM equivilants of DIN standards?

kawliga,

There is a book called Stahlschlussel which lists DIN and ASTM equivalents. This is available to buy on the internet or if your query is only one or two materials then post them and I will check them out to see what equivalents are available.

Thanks for the info. I'm basically looking at four drawings with DINs associated. 2 steel, 1 aluminum, and 1 brass. Does that book only cover steels or other materials as well?

If you can help out with any of these I would appreciate it:

42CrMo4 1.7225 DIN 2448 - DIN 17204

42CrMoS4 1.7227 DIN 1652

CuZn30 2.0265 DIN 17660/17670

AlZnMgCu 1.5 F51 3.4365.71 DIN 1747 - DIN 1798 or 1799

42CrMo4 (1.7225) is equivalent to grade 4142 in SAE J404. 4140 in J404 is close. 42CrMoS4 (1.7227) merely specifies a range for S (.020-0.040) instead of only a maximum (0.035), and is intended for parts requiring machinability. AlZnMgCu (3.4365) is 7075, the F51 is equivalent to T6. CuZn30 (2.0265) is cartridge brass, see UNS C26000 in ASTM B 36, etc. Stahlschlüssel only covers steels, stainless steels, tool steels, etc., but there is an Aluminiumschlüssel as well. ASM International has reference books covering both ferrous alloys and non-ferrous alloys. Use the following link for more information:
