Eccentric in plane load on L shape weld

Hi Guys,

I need to check capacity of a "L" shape weld with an application of in plane eccentric load (Assuming an outrigger angle welded (L-Shape) to column with a vert load at end).

Can some help with a manual calculation for this case. I have tables from code, but no hand calcs to support that.

Attach a sketch. I assume you are referring to a fillet weld on an angle clip, but can't be sure from your description.

I think the CERM covers this in the Weld Section if I remember right.

This is fairly straightforward and covered by and good steel text and Blodgett. The attached calc assumes the critical location is at the top, right corner of the weld. Adjust accordingly for different conditions.

I also only showed the calc for the cg of the weld from the left, but the calc for the cg from the top is similar.

The AISC weld tables have this load case I beleive.
