What is engine shock loading? how does it differ from hard landing?

thermal shock?
dropping the engine on the ground when trying to install shock?

if you are going to ask questions you need to provide a LOT more info and context for them.

Birds flying into the engine / propellor?
Blades / (fan or props) falling off
Sudden full power / blade angle change?

Would you mind explaining all reasonable interpretations of "engine shock loading"?

OP - maybe you should start by explaining why you are asking this question and in what context are you seeing "shock loading" referred to. its a rather vague question.

In connection with AMM chapter 05, namely "special inspections of engine"

I doubt any of us have copies of that AMM, for whatever airplane and engine variant it is. Maybe if you posted a few pages of the AMM here we might figure it out.

My best guess is that it has something to do with thermal shock on engine startup.

This statement is so deliberately obscure... Green123... I believe You are playing guessing games with us REAL professionals... and I am about to report this posting of yours as non-professional.

I would ask the manufacturer what he means. I'm thinking of mechanical shock, like from a disturbance in the fuel supply or the airflow into the core, or a million other things.

That or an engine manufacturer ... the term may be jargon amongst engine people. If there is special maintenance after "shock loading", how is this "shock loading" event demonstrated ? how does one know it occurred ??

"A normal shock load is defined as having a 10 g acceleration in a given direction over a period of typically 11 ms. This assures the LRU will survive takeoff, landing, aerodynamic gusts, or any other normal aircraft maneuver."
