I am currently extruding a steel end fitting on to a wire for my assembly. The steel end fitting is currently coated with a phosphate & wax for corrosion resisitance. The phosphate & wax coating does not meet the corrosion requirments, so I need to look for an alternative. However, in the past when using any zinc plaitng and then extruding the steel end fittings the zinc plating would scrape off or gum up the dies.
I am looking for any recomondations on the exturing procees with platings/coating for corrosion protection. I can not use a secondary process to plate/coat as the steel end fittings are extruded during the complete assembly on the manufacturing line.
I am open to any suggestions on plating/coating and the extruding process.
