failed to set excel running with NX6 on office 2010

this just happens randomly on some parts. mostly, when i get this, i just have to reboot UG and i can start up excel with UG but i cant find the solution witht his one.. what to do?

Did you checked your log file? Can you tell what's in it please, this will provide us with more info on the error.

what information from my log do you need?

ERROR: starting excel failed with code 8007000e
&MACRO FOCUS CHANGE IN 1
&MACRO MESSAGE_BOX -2, Failed to set Excel running
&MACRO MENU, 0, UG_HELP_SYSTEM_LOG UG_GATEWAY_MAIN_MENUBAR !

these are 4 last lines from the log after the error

If you do a google search on the error string most of the hits are about stack/buffer overflow errors. Which means a memory related error. How much ram is in the workstation/laptop?
And make sure you have the latest msxml version working by following next command :
. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSXML3.DLL"

the REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSXML3.DLL run succeeded. thnx about that
i've got 6gb ram workstation so that would be enough
what did the REG do?

It fixed the connection between the dll in the registry and the application.
Or if it wasn't installed (properly) then it will.

Can you look which MSXML is installed, goto programs and features in your control panel (check if microsoft features is on.
You should have MSXML 4.0 installed (with SP2) this will include all the necessary dll's.
If not install them directly from the MS site.

it is indeed msxml 4.0 SP2
so what do i need to do now?

Here is the MS site which describes your problem i think. You also could try to reinstall MSXML 4.0 and the the 2 SP (KB954430 and KB973688).

i really appreciate your cooperation but how is the link you send, the solution for my problem? since i work at a workstation that is fully locked with program-installs, i can't just 'try' it. the admin of my work here is the boss of all that. so i hoped it was something with settings or something like that.

the error code is different from mine, and only the #3.DLL works, number 1 and 2 dont work. is that probably cuz the MSXML istn installed properly? cause if thats true, i can get to my admin about that.

Yes , as stated in my previous post a re-installation of the MSXML 4.0 is likely the best solution (remember the SP's)

it seems that deleting them also helps..
the reason why is cause those msxml's were probably old? so i'm told by my admin and in some way he couldnt get them back, so he just let them away.
i've got office 2010 here with IE 8 cause of the toolbar bug. it seems that those combinations didnt really work. i've got IE9 now and the msxml were uninstalled and it seems to work. didnt got any errors today. and my toolbars are where i want them so i dont need to rearange them.
