France 95% renewable last year

Although it doesn't make the slightest difference to anything, France hit 95% renewables last year, and provided a great deal of energy to various idiotic countries pursuing wind and solar and storage solutions to non existent problems.

Sorry it's Bloomberg, they want your $ https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...s-95-fossil-free-as-nuclear-renewables-jumped

I thought France had a high percentage of nuclear power...but recently heard they were trying to cut it back...now it seems it's coming back strong (70% of output or more, seasonally dependent). And sourcing power to other countries that abandoned the best, most reliable, clean base load generation method.

Just to confuse things there's an EU mandate that countries have to buy wind and solar from other EU countries if it is available (I am not sure of the details). This is bad news for France, since nukes aren't really designed to accomodate random changes in output.

GregLocock: I'm counting nuclear as renewable.
That's reasonable in my book.... My biggest pet peeve is how many "environmentalists" who believe CO2 emissions are an existential crisis somehow want to do away with nuclear power. Sometimes they hate hydro power too.

I'm convinced it's just that they've been brainwashed to believe things that make no sense. Just like the LGBTQ people who support Hamas over Israel for some reason.
