Hi all,

I surveyed a moment frame the other day that is supposed to support first floor, roof and wind load because my client has the ground rear wall demolished for opening to the new extension. frame is roughly 4.5m wide and 3 high made of UC steel sections.
The problem comes from that the builder didn't have details and sat the beam ends onto the column and bolted the beams bottom flange to welded top plate of the columns effectively producing a pinned connection where in reality we need to have moment connections.
I am thinking of welding haunches below and probably some stiffeners but not quite sure how to analize and calculate the whole thing.
Will be very thankfull for a practicall solution.
Max moment when frame is analized to dead+live+wind is 28kNm.

Thanks

Weld stiffeners in the beam above each flange of the column. Then weld beam to cap plate to develop the design moment.
