Dear tonih,

A quote for test depends on what kind of test. The amount of capital equipment (i.e., overhead), level of automation and labor involved performing the test determines the fee charged.

The most prominent digital in-circuit test these days is JTAG (Joint Test Action Group) boundary scan. A JTAG test suite can run between $25K and $60K, depending on automation options and who's selling. That's a capital investment which needs to be recovered across that systems testing life.

Analog testing is much more involved, and therefore more laborious.

Also influencing the fee is whether or not the customer has any test vectors specific to the design, and is willing to share that data.

For more on JTAG:

Enjoy.
