Hey guys,

I need some help with NX9. I recently got NX9 and am completely new to it. The menus look similar enough for me to do some basic things, such as exporting, but when I tried exporting my files, it wouldn't appear where I exported it to. No files appear in the folder I designated. Why is this?

What format are you exporting to?
Does your license support exporting to this format (have you exported to the same format in a previous version of NX)?

Hey cowski,

I'm trying to export to STEP and IGES.
I've exported to these formats in previously (NX 8).

There is a black window appearing when exporting, try reading this if possible, it will contain information on how the export goes.
Whats written in this window should be stored in a logfile, in the same directory and the same name as the step/ iges file.
example
the_model_123.stp ( which is missing)
the_model_123.log ( this is the logfile)

Open the logfile and read , it will probably note why the export fails.

Also, check the default output folder. If anything goes wrong with the folder you specified, it may be redirecting the output to the default folder. Check the customer defaults to see if you have a default output folder set (Gateway -> translators). If there is no default output folder set in the customer defaults, check the "UGII" folder in the NX installation to see if anything is being written there.

Hey Toost and cowski,

To Toost: I probably should've mentioned this earlier, but no log files are created. Which is strange because I've already double-checked the destination of my files and it's not wrong. Both the new format of the file and the log file should appear in the folder I designated, but they do not.

To Cowski: I checked the designated destination folders for my exports and they're good. I've sent files to these designations before with NX8. I also just checked the Customer Defaults -> Gateway -> Translators and checked every tab if they indicated any new export designations and they're all blank.

I've seen this before and the problem was permissions to write/execute from a temp folder.
Who installed NX? Did the user have full admin rights or was User Account Control turned off?
If UAC wasn't turned off was the install run with 'Run as Administrator'?

For some reason, NX9 doesn't work well with folders containing a comma in its name. I had been using dates to organize my files (ex: Oct. 23, 2014).
NX8 had no problems with this issue, however...

Problem solved, though!
