Hi.

Do we need to provide smoke detectors inside the class room of school if the whole building is sprinkler protected? I already provided in corridors, electrical rooms, communication rooms but i am confused either to provide smoke detector inside the class room or not. Kindly let me know the if there is any Code refers to the question.

Thanks
Shallem

What code did you use to decide to put detectors in the corridors, electrical rooms, communication rooms?

You need to refer to a code for all minimums, then you can always go over an above if you want.

Minimums are generally in your adopted building code. If it happens to be the un-amended IBC 2015, you would look in 907. Is it a Group E Occupancy? Look at 907.2.3 for the basics There might not be any smoke detectors needed as a base condition.

Then check other sections such as if there are atriums, or a high rise or HVAC, etc
