Dear,

I am working in milling process, it is the first time that I am doing something like this.
I would like to mapp the residual stresses over the model.
I read, abaqus 6.16 has new elements, c3D8S or C3D8HS linear brick elements, which provide superio stress visualization on the element surface by avoiding errors due to the extrapolation of stress components
from the integration points to the nodes. I do not known if I can use subroutines, in order to mapping residual stresses over the model, with this type of element.

If anyone have information about this theme, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Ane

Thanks a lot.
I have doubt if I can employ SIGINI subroutine with C3D8S or C3D8HS elements. I know that I can use SIGINI to mapp the residual stresses with C3D8 elements but I have doubt if it is posible with this new elements.

Once again, thanks for sharing with me your knowledge about abaqus.

'would be easy to find out.
Create a one element model, fix all nodal displacements, hardcode some initial stresses in a SIGINI, run it and look at the results.

Thanks a lot.
I will do that but before I have to install abaqus 6.16 because in abaqus 6.14 this elements is not supported.
Once again, thaks for your answers.
