In the older versions of Ansys one used the minor poisson's ratio NUXY etc when giving orthotropic material proerties. In version 6 the major poisson's ratio PRXY is required. What is the definition of PRXY, and what is the conversion to NUXY.

Hi Heinbau

Read on Chapter 2.1_ Structural Fundamentals Stress-Strain relations and you will have a lot of answers to your question.

Hi Mohr,

Can you please be a little more specific on the title and author of the book, as I do not have it. I have quite a few other books in the field, but nowhere in them or the Ansys theory manual do I find anything on the matter.

Hi Heinbau !!

I am talking about Ansys theory documentation. Open Help then go to Index, and find poisson´s ratios. It goes to
Chapter 2 Structures and point 2.1.
Here you can read about Stress and Strain relationship and
all about NUXY / PRXY

Cheers

Hi Heinbau !!!
Allways go to Ansys Manual. It has a lot of MODERN THEORY and a lot of References. Good luck with your work.
