Hi everyone,

I'm new to ansys. I need help from anyone who knows the steps to do the meshing of solid brick 8 node 45 in order to get the brick shape during meshing. The problem is I repeatedly got the tetra shape during meshing even i have select the element of solid brick 8 node 45.

My component is a hollow cylinder with small internal defect and is an imported IGES file.

I have attached a file that illustrate what kind of mesh i need and the tetra shape that i got..

Thanks for all the help.

Hi.Thanks for the feedback. I've created it with ansys as well but still couldn't get the mesh. the defect is intentional for an analysis.

ok. pretty simple. You need to dice up your geometry using the vsbw command (there are other ways but I use this)to isolate the 'defect' So I'd section through the diameter first then rotate the workplane to cut the created half annulus to leave the defect isolated. then I'd use the Vsweep command to get a nice brick mesh on the three volumes.

I'm really new to this software, so need to explore with what you have suggest.I'll try to work it out tonight and feedback again whether I can do or not.If let say you have time and opportunity, maybe you can show to me the steps in one attached files so that i can do it faster. anyway thank you very very much.
