Looking for materials suggestions for a cantilever balcony with dimensions: 42 inches deep by 10 feet long. Construction is in a very wet area, with very high humidity. Wood is not an option.

And what does it cantilever from? Reinforced concrete, structural steel, structural aluminium may be considered, cantilevered from backspan of same or different material. Why is structural timber(wood)excluded? Think we need more information about your problem.

Please allow me to expand on the data initially posted:
1. Balcony will be cantilevered out from laminated floor joists set on 16 inch centers
2. Weight bearing walls are constructed of 2X6 Douglas fir
3. Outside walls are brick
4. Average rain fall in the area is 36+ inches per year
5. Humidity is usually high. (Moss grows on asphalt shingles)
6. The actual decking material for the balcony will probably be Trex

Looking for structural material to tie into the floor joists. Due to the strong likelihood of wood rot and then water leakage into the interior walls with subsequent replacement, wood was not considered. We would consider microlam if it stands up to high moisture exposure. We have heard of structural fiberglass, but haven't been able to aquire sufficient information about it. We have also heard of rolled steel painted with high zink paint to reduce rust. I'm open to comments, suggestions, manifacturers, etc.

I would think that you could use galvanized (or zinc coated) light gage steel "C" joists, bolted to the interior wood and the inside ends. Or even a set of standard hot-rolled and galvanized channels would work.
