I'm trying to compile a list of high-volume piston ring manufacturers for automotive (diesel/gasoline) and medium/heavy duty diesel applications. Off the top of my head, I can come up with:
- Riken: Automotive, MD, HD
- Federal Mogul: Automotive, MD, HD
- Mahle: Automotive, MD, HD
- Dana: Automotive
- Hastings: Automotive

Any others?

Two additional high quality ring manufacturers come to mind: Goetze is a leading edge manufacturer (Goetze is German and a subsidiary of FM).

Nippon Piston Ring (NPR) is another quality ring producer.

Some of the previous posts mention companies that actually get their rings from the biggies like Hastings.

By the way, in my opinion, Mahle is a/the, leading edge producer of very high quality ring designs.

Yeah, I was lumping AE/Goetze under FMO. I don't think I'd ever heard of NPR before - thanks!

Running list:
- Riken: Automotive, MD, HD
- Nippon Piston Ring: Automotive, MD, HD(?)
- Federal Mogul (AE/Goetze): Automotive, MD, HD
- Mahle: Automotive, MD, HD
- Dana: Automotive
- Hastings: Automotive
- Total Seal: (small qty automotive, I believe)
- Weisco: ? (can't find website)
- Deves: Automotive replacement rings

Many years ago, NPR made big bore kits, including cylinders, cast pistons and rings foe air cooled VWs. They seemed good quality.

I was expecting that there must be at least one Japanese supplier.

Total seal make rings at least for the high performance replacement market. I think they also do a gapless ring
