Hi,

Im a new user of SE with previous experience from SW, Catia and ProE so I have a pretty clear idea of how i think things should work.
We are currentlu using the section view command in the drawing module of SE which works fine for the most of the time but I'm missing the clear connection to the 3D modell (ex ProE). The real issue I have is that I'm not able to show sketches drawn in the same plane as the cutting plane on the section view of the drawing.

Then i realised the solution for both these problem was to use the PMI section view, which I thoght worked great.
The only concern I'm having right now is to be able to show the cutting plane with arrows on the view from which I am projecting my section view from and to get a callout with the name of the section.

So my qustions are:
How can I show the cutting plane with arrows on the view I'm projection my section view from?
And how can I callout the name of the view, ex A-A, ?

Thanks in advance

regards
Anders

Isn't it anyone that uses PMI section views to generate section views on drawings?
I that case I think I'm trying to use it the wrong way.

Is there any other way to get a sketch to show on a section view? On a normal view u just turn the sketch to "show" in properties/display but it dissapears if u turn the section view on.

Thank in advance

Hi Anders,

If you are generating a standard section view, I would use the section view tool in draft since it will create the view label. I use the PMI section views to create broken out section views because I find it much easier to manage than the broken out section view in draft. I'm not sure if I've ever tried showing sketches in a section view - I'll have to try that out. Depending on the complexity of the sketch, you could use the draw-in-view tool (right click on the view and select) to sketch in the section view. You might also try posting this question in the Solid Edge public forum.

Thanks allot for the respons.

We use the "draw in view" at the moment but I think it would be a much better solution to be able to use the sketch right away from the model.
I will talk to the SolidE support. I report here if I get a good answer.

Yes, I think that is what I want to do.
But there is no problem with getting the sketch to show in a normal drawing view, but it is when I trie to show it in a section view I run in to problem.
