Pool cover design

Hi,

I am building a cover and would like a recommendation for a lifting method for the cover.

Please see attached animation. The cover is 30ft long x 15 ft wide split in
two pieces. I need an actuator on each side to flip one cover over the other
cover 180 degrees. The 30ft x 7.5ft section weighs 1000lb.

Sounds highly impractical.

So, you have a 30x7.5 ft area next to the pool that's unusable?

Something that rolls up and can be moved out of the usage area would make infinitely more sense.

A cover that weighs 500kg??

That's a lot of torque to rotate, but can be done with hydraulics.

There's lots of ways to solve this but needs a bit of design.

Are you sure about that weight? Seems excessively heavy, unless you plan on it being sturdy enough for people to walk on. Is that your plan?
