Hi I've a problem with a model of an assy, with a contact definition in Nastran.

I've six couple of surfaces, four of them are in touch before and after the run with loads. The other two couples have a small gap (0.5 mm) before the run and Their touching after the run.

I've applied a sol 101 with BCTABLE, no glue activate.

But the surfaces that are in contact before the run are worked correctly, instead the other two not.

Nastran doesn't recognize the contact between the last two couple of surfaces.

Someone have an idea why there is this problem?

thanks very much.
regards

Hello

I am not sure, but Check whether you specified the modeling object for Advanced nonlinear(BCTPARAM) in the surface to surface contact dialogue box and check whether you have created the global contact parameters in the solution dialogue box.

Hi,

Have you checked the shell normals? They should be oriented in the same way.

On the ohter hand, as far as I know, the shell must be created in the mid surface for a correct performance.

There is a misunderstanding, I'm sorry. I've referred to a surfaces of solid meshes.

ok,

Have you defined BCONTACT = "BCTABLE ID" before (or inside) the subcase?

Or are you using BCONTACT = ALL?

Regards

I've defined BCONTACT = "BCTABLE ID" inside the subcase.

Could you send us part of the code?

At least, I would need the contact definition cards (BSURF, BCBODY, BCTABLE...) to understand the problem,
In addition, a sketch of the contact problem would be helpful.
