Hi everybody

I have the following question.
I am running a Nastran Job and I observe a huge amount of data in the dball file. Note that I do not have any memory space problem (ram+disk).

USER INFORMATION MESSAGE (pgm: nastran, fn: estimate_job_requirements)
Estimated DOF=268803
Estimated memory=197.6MB
Estimated disk=2785.9MB

As you can see, the job is relatively small.

All required results are outputted through .f06 and I do not need the .dball file (100GB of DBALL files). I plan to make some calculations with a bigger refined model. So larger .dball file is expected.

Is there a mean to reduce the size of the .dball file?

Thank you,

When you issue nastran solve, enter scr=n in the optional keywords...

This indicates deletion of scratch files *.master & *.dball at the end of the analysis.
