Hi!

About 30 years ago, I visited some construction sites in Germany and Austria.
Clips were used to tie rebars instead of flexible wires there.
At that time I thought it was smart idea and should become popular soon.
But, I have never seen new method/material so far...
I searched internet and found a company, but they do not do business any more.
Is this spring-like clip method not used in the US market at all?
I wonder why this efficient method has not been adopted in the market.

Thanks!

If different clips are required for different sized rebar, that would be one reason. Tying longitudinal bars in the corner of a tie bar or stirrup is another. Wire is universal - it works on all sizes, odd crossing angles, bent bars, lap, etc.

For an experienced rod buster, I suspect installing the clips might actually be slower. Some of those guys are really fast with just a roll of wire and the pliers.

My thoughts are those clips would also be inferior if you wanted to traffic the cage. You almost always need to do this during tying it together or during concrete placement. Being spring loaded means poseibly propensity for bars to move/separate under load which is the opposite to what you want in a solid tied cage.
