Records of VT acc. to B31.3 2

Hi there,

B31.3 (para. 344.2.2) says that records of individual visual examinations are not required , except for those of in-process examination as specified in para. 344.7. So i have to record all points in 344.7 any time? For example the condition of the weld between every pass?
By whom? VT personnel?

Or is this examination just recommended because 344.7 just says "as applicable".

344.7 requirements apply when such VT substitutes RT or UT requirements (Normal Service, Severe Cyclic Conditions) on a weld for weld basis when permitted by the design or authorized by the Inspector. It is not the intent of B31.3 to use 344.7 to replace RT/VT on all welds.

Okay thanks! Now i understand. I thought this requirements were additional to RT/PT.
And what do i have to record when just VT is required and no RT and PT will be done? The requirements of Section V T-990?
