I'm trying to create a mount that will move a camera up, down, left, and right on a 220 degree plane. I want to control the camera remotely with a transmitter connected to a gyro. The gyro will be mounted to a head set, so that the camera's movements mimics the movement of my head. If anyone has any advice on how I may accomplish this it would be much appreciated.

You'd servo the two together. One accelerometer on the head and one on the camera mount. The head one would essentially tell the camera mount one where to point and it would drive its mount to make the two agree. Pretty straight forward but the devil is in the details.

Not quite sure I understand (the gyro portion at least). I would think you'd want to measure head position relative to body . An accelerometer on the head wouldn't do that.

That's cool !

I would use an Arduino though. That sensor is great. Makes it really easy.

I wish someone had told me where robotics was heading 30 years ago... that is so cool. I'm jealous of kids getting into it now, they will be standing on the shoulders of giants with tools at their disposal that only existed in science fiction when I was starting college...

It's never too late to get into it jraef. Companies like Arduino have made the transition to embedded engineering (or even playing around) "smoother".
