Is there any part of code that says i cant use a hollow cylindrical SA-105 forging for nozzles as long as it meets the thickness requirements? Can it be assumed from UG-6?

ENG2194, SA-105 is commonly used for forged nozzle bodies, long weld neck flanges, and various "heavy barrels" such as HB necks and so forth.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

I believe All your examples meet an an ASME 16.# standard that is explicitly allowed by Sec. VIII in UG-44. My question is more so using a hollow SA-105 cylinder when its not included in an ASME 16.# standard.

Yes, that is what I meant by forged nozzle bodies, a custom forging used with a weld neck flange, or without for a butt weld connection.

Not recommending this source :)

Put different, which sections of the Code have you checked so far that gave you the impression you cant use SA-105 forgings for nozzles ? Sure we can help, but rather than doing your homework: reading the code from time to time instead of asking experts/experienced engineers can provide a very useful learning curve[smarty]

Ive read through good portions of it. Ive gone to all the sections i feel are applicable. I believe its not an issue. Other colleges are giving me a hard time with is. Just checking if there was a more definite answer some
place to put them at ease.
