Hi All,

I've been struggeling with the part attached tho this thread. This part is supposed te be made out of one sheet (4mm) with 8 bends.
This part is made out of a higher level dummy part which is made out of surfaces. (this is why it's a linked surface body)

At first I thouhgt to make a sheet metal part out of this surface body using the "sheet metal from solid" command. This gave no joy.

Second I tried to use thicken body and rip the edges. In this case the " rip edges" command fails. It leaves a weird pont (please see the file and the pic below).
When using "convert to sheet metal" the function works but gives errors.

Last i did was use the "rib edge command" combined with the "sheet metal from solid" command. This gave a reasonable result.

So my question is: How would you do this.......?

Why can't I use the "sheet metal form solid" command. This would be the most easy way to make this part. It will create the part with the least feature which I like....

If they have to change the name of the fucntion for this reason I won't make a fuss.... :)

Sheet Metal from Solid does work from surface geometry as long as the faces are connected. In this case it 'should' work from the Linked Face but clearly doesn't. I did get it to work in NX11 though! Raise another ticket through GTAC for this one. Solution attached.
