Hi all - just a quick question.

Is it mandatory per ASME standards to add a view title to an isometric view? I'm not seeing anything in Y14.3 that would indicate this is a requirement. Normally, on our drawings, I see

ISOMETRIC VIEW
FOR REFERENCE ONLY

Just curious if there's an actual ASME requirement to do this. We end up putting ourselves into a situation of generating non-value added redlines when someone forgets to put the above note below the ISO view.

Thanks

If you look into ASME Y14.3-2003 MULTIVIEW AND SECTIONAL VIEW DRAWINGS you will see that isometric view is NEVER given a title:

Naturally, notes can be added if the view is made not to scale, placed on different sheet, etc., etc.

"NEVER"?

I usually do not apply titles to drawing views, since it generally is obvious what they are. If I have notes or a separate document that refer to drawing views, then the views need to be labelled.
