Builder did nailed double seal plate to the wood girder beam. I have wind loading on walls. Found out that I do not have required capacity for the shear, need to use lag bolts, and wall already covered. Since the floor is elevated I can make required connection from the bottom (going through the triple 2X12 girder beam up to the the 2x6 double seal plate), but the way it can be done only installing 1/2" lag bolt on an angle, same principle as "toe nailing". Is it possible to use 1/2" bolt for toe nailing? Or may be there is better way to take care of shear?
