I talked to some guys running a big inch pipeline in Mozambique and after running a mine sweeper over the ROW three times still hit a mine with a hoe. I don't ever want to run a line in country where you have to include mine sweeping on your payroll.

"Belief" is the acceptance of an hypotheses in the absence of data.
"Prejudice" is having an opinion not supported by the preponderance of the data.
"Knowledge" is only found through the accumulation and analysis of data.

That applies to most parts of the world, actually. Even central London comes up with unexploded ordinance from time to time. Most of the rest of the world is far worse. It seems that far more of the world's territory has been exposed to war than not. Even if someone says that they cleared all the miniclusters off your site/RoW, would you believe them, or would you always have that little, tiny bit of doubt in the back of your mind.

We find unexploded ordinance here in San Diego from time to time.

It's even more fun when US Navy pilots uses your pipe line for target practice.

What are you running in that "pipeline"?

Natural gas at 1000 psi in 36" line. Our line crossed into a portion of the Navy Target Range. It was really a hoot to enter the zone and conduct repairs.

I know what you mean. I worked startup on a Colombian pipeline in 1986. The ELN was blowing it up once or twice a week.
