Updating a table full of expressions

Hello,

I have a table with 84 parts in it that has several expression related items that I want to update. When I do go to update it, it does not update the parts unless the items are loaded.

Is there a way for me to update my table faster (load the expressions) other than opening every part and uploading the table that way?

Thanks,
J

Have you tried...

Tools -> Update -> Update for External Change

John,

I have, that did not appear to work. It actually didn't do anything that I can tell. The 84 parts I have are part of a part family and the drawing is the seed part, if you will, that the part family is originated from. The only way I have been able to get these expressions to update is if I have them open, which takes forever. I don't expect to update the drawing often but I am creating several drawings similar to this and would like avoid opening all of these parts.

Have you tried opening the Part Family spreadsheet, do a Save-As, exiting the spreadsheet and then creating and editing your Tabular note 'Using a Spreadsheet', then Copy & Paste the contents of the cells from one spreadsheet to the other? Granted, you'd have to repeat the procedure every time that there are changes, but at least it would make it easier to do.

Hey John,

I could do this, but this would no longer link the data. I am looking to have the data linked to the master model and if there needs to be a change, it updates practically automatically after the the desired change occurs.

What I usually have found is if you can think it, it is usually possible in NX. Hopefully this is the case as well.

It might be best to create a program which opens all the files, updates the table and then saves the part file with the table. You say you only need to do this once in a while. You could simply run this 'utility' whenever the need presented itself.

Hey John,

I was afraid of that. I have never written any programs for NX. The closest thing to writting code that I have done is created a few macro's for Excel. I think for the time I will continue to copy and paste data (as we do have a checker on all drawings anyway) and look into the programming down the road, if I see the need for it increase.

Thanks,
J
