Using 1.5B Roof Decking as the only roofing on a canopy

Has anyone used 1.5B roof decking as a stand alone roof system? I have a fuel island canopy and was thinking about using 20Ga 1.5B with Teks at the supports and sidelaps and maybe specifying some rubber washers on the teks so it won't leak?

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Thank you!

I've done this. The only thing I worry about I the appearance of the edge and birds nesting in the spaces between the steel members and deck.
Note that it will probably still leak some.

If you fasten it with roofing screws with neoprene washers, through the ridges rather than the valleys, it should work fine, as long as you have about 5 degrees slope. But doing it that way, you should not count on the deck as a diaphragm. You would be using it as roofing rather than as decking. The other issue is corrosion...what kind of coating do you get on that type deck?

I would prefer a purpose designed metal roofing system.

Why not use nested metal panel roof or standing seam metal roof?

Can standing seam roof act as a diaphragm? The archs I work with typically specify roofing like standing seam. Does anyone know of a source (online catalog) where I can look at standing seam capacity, like allowable loads for a given span (and shear capactiy if I can use it as a diaphragm). I am in the U.S.
Thanks!

No, it is designed to move with temperature variation, so it is not a diaphragm.

There was a study does by The national frame builders association for the design of pole buildings using the standing seam style cladding as a diaphragm. They published testing values for specific arrangements. It could give you an idea. They're located in the Post-Frame Building Design Manual.
