Please see image attached.
Its an RC container.
No matter what the width of the water block inside the container is, as long as the height of the water bloack is the same in all of 3 containers, the pressure on the bottom of the wall on all of the 3 containers will be the same.
The walls will all have the same bending moment at the bottom of the wall
Correct or false?

- this is true.. the hydrostatic pressure on the walls are also the same..The exception is capillary effect for very small sizes..

- Depends on the wall aspect ratio with support conditions. The bottom moment will be the same if the walls modelled cantilever from the base slab.

Correct. I know, it feels like magic to me sometimes too. Surely more water volume retained must mean more load?? Nope, such is the nature of a retained mass incapable of shear resistance.

Pure physics!

Pressure is force/ unit area, so force is pressure times area. On the side wall neither of those things change as the volume increases if the water height stays the same.
Pressure in this case comes from the height of the water above the bottom slab, not the area of the bottom slab.

Total force on the bottom slab increases as its area increases.
