Hi guys,
I have a 1575mm (62") I.D. cylinder x 16mm thk, which I need to hydrotest @ 2000 KPa (290 PSI). I have 4" thick flat plates (AS1548-460R) @ 62" diameter which I plan to weld to both ends of the shell.
I have done the calcs and 4" thk is sufficient.
However I can not figure out what the required weld size / type needs to be. The closest thing I can find in UG-43 is a type (e)which will not work as i am unable to access the inside of the vessel in this case.
It has cost us a fortune however these plates are dumps from body flanges we used on the unit so we thought it might be the more economical option as we have no other use for them at the moment.
I am hoping we are be able to get away with a J or a V-prep however i am unable to base my decision on a calculation or a standard.
I am new to this so any advice / help would be highly appreciated.
