Welding a Simpson HUC Hanger 1

I have a job where i have a number of LVL's framing into the side of a tube-steel column. Rather than fabricate saddles for each condition, how do y'all feel about just welding the perimeter of a Simpson concealed flange hanger? The column has 1/4" wall thickness and the loads are under 3k. service.
