Until now I've just been doing all of my diagrams in autocad with lines but I'm looking to get a more robust program that's easier and faster to use. I've used HVAC Solutions but I have to say that I didn't like it that much, it was too restrictive. I'm thinking about using Visio; has anyone tried that? Thanks!

Visio is kind of an in-between application, less capable than Autocad in many respects, but able to higher level things

Thanks for that. That's interesting that they're showing how to use it for floor plans, I wonder if anyone actually uses it for that.

Revit, like the rest of the design. the Revit 2D details are much more powerful than AutoCAD and you have it right on your sheets.

I didn't even think of using Revit, I'll try that out. Thanks.

Hi nuuvox
I have been using Revit for more than 10 years and it is so easy and convenient. For cool load calculation the best software that I have found, is Rhvac or Chavez also for ductwork calculation those programs are very good.
Don't worry about Revit, maybe you find it so complicated at the beginning, but when you go through it, be sure you find it easy. If you face any problem in using Revit let me know I can suggest you some clips to make your work easier.

Thanks Gholam. I have been using Revit for years for designs but not for details. I'll try out the drafting and see how it works.
