Can anyone identify what this device is for on the end of this hydraulic cylinder?

Thanks in advance

The rectangle metal block and the 6 sided device screwed in by the port. This is on the rod side.

Thanks

Strictly a guess, but, probably some sort of pressure control like a Counterblance Valve to retard a vertical rod down cylinder with a load that would try to make it drop when a directonal control was shifted to extend the cylinder.

Some of these Pressure Control valves had an adjustin screw in the end or had the adjustment covered by a Hex Cap.

Looks like it has epoxy on it to prevent adjustment of the setscrew in the end of the body.
An adjustable control of some sort. Maybe a flow control.

Scrape the paint off the hex faces. The manufacturer's name and part number may be embossed there.

I hate when that happens, as soon as you give up and ask a question, you solve it. The cylinder is part of slide mechanism for an RV with a synchronizing cylinder. In case one of the slide cylinders binds and causes a pressure increase, this device locks the cylinder so damage to the RV can not occur.

Thanks for the help,
