Hi All,

I am working on the foundation design for and elevated building module in the Arctic of North America. As a result, to protect the permafrost, the building needs to be elevated a few feet (+/- 3') above the ground.

When doing this we have created a space that can have wind under the building. The building module is very similar shape to a shipping container so can be approximated as a low sloped roof from the different building codes (NBCC or ASCE-7) However, neither of these codes have any reference to an elevated building and up or down coefficients on the underside of the building? ASCE-7 has some reference for coefficients for the underside of an elevated circular tank but that is all I can find.

Does anyone here have any codified references for the loading on the underside of an elevated building type structure?

Thanks

Similar to a raised house on piles, I've designed based on an open structure in ASCE7.

Late to the party, but yes, I've done the same for houses raised on piles.
