Hello respected colleagues and gentlemen,
I was trained in the British system of education and had practised Structural Engineering with BS Codes all my life. I am now transitioning into the Canadian Code.

I will like to get help with calculation of "net external pressure coefficient"

Every other associated matter is clear.

Thanks

Components and Cladding design or Main Wind Force Resisting System?

Do you have a copy of the NRC commentary on Part 4 of the NBCC? Very very helpful in all things wind-design.
I'd be surprised if that document didn't clear things up for you.

Commentaries for nbcc 2015 are not yet available

Commentaries are included in the 2015 code. No separate book this time
Thank god

I don't know of any jurisdictions that have adopted the NBCC 2015... most are still using the 2010...

Dik, I was under the impression we (MB) are the last to get on board with it. And from what I hear it's truly imminent.

Saskatchewan and nova scotia adopted it but then pulled back to nbcc 2010 as everyone is waiting on the commentaries.

pmtpemb... that's what I had understood...

What sections of the old commentaries aren't included in the new code. All of the snow and wind stuff is part of the new code directly.

To more directly answer OP's question, you need to follow the flow chart given in figure I-1 of the wind section of the commentary. Depending on what you're designing (high-rise, cladding, low rise) you have different procedures to follow.

For most situations there are tables providing combined CpCg factors.

Thanks, distinguished colleagues. I combed the internet to find bits and pieces of the commentaries. I might have to buy one. Or is anyone willing to trade?

Thanks

Trying using jabacus.com

It will do most of the simple cases. But not highrises.
