Wireless temperature uniformity devices for pusher furnaces

Hello,

We have pusher carburizing furnaces at our shop with four or five zones. I'm currently having an issue with the first (heat-up) zone where we had to raise the first zone temp from its normal 1725F.

We checked the burners and radiant tubes, switched thermocouples, etc., but I would like to install a remote device on the pusher tray alongside the parts (gears) that can measure temperature, at least through the heat-up and into the carburizing zones.

Anyone know of an equipment source or who can provide such services? I'm in Ohio.

Thanks, TVP.

Yes, we have SSi temperature controllers on one of our furnaces, their Superdata system, and just purchased one of their dew point testers.

I will also read Dan's article.

Have you considered running a long thermocouple attached to the tray into the zone that you desire. I agree with irstuff's observation, .

Arunmrao,

Thanks for the suggestion. It does not appear to be feasible to attach a wire because there is first an outer door, one tray wide, followed by three pusher heads inside the vestibule, which pushes trays into the furnace proper which is sealed by an inner door. It does not look like the wire would survive the outer and inner door closings. As TVP suggested we are going to check with SSi, they work with a company called TruCal that may have some ideas.
