Hi!

I'm a designer / Drafter working on a CAD station most of my day. I read a little on the internet about working standing up and the idea sounded interesting so I figured out a quick setup using books and carton boxes to lift my stuffs to work standing up.

I used it for two weeks and really loved it. But before going to a permanent setup I would like to have some input from others. I previously read about using a gel mat to prevent sore feet, using a stool to sit when there is fatigue, etc. Is there anyone who actually work that way or at least tried it for a long period? How do you like it and why?

For those interested there is a great discussion on the subject here
Cheers

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of faq731-376 recently, or taken a look at posting policies: What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484

The great musical composer Victor Herbert wrote music standing up. Perhaps he was figuratively visualizing the orchestra while writing the parts.

Even soldiers on the march take 10 every hour. Being constantly on your feet is asking for trouble.

One thing I miss about working on the board is the option to stand for some part of the day. If I had an old drawing board, I would put my computer on it and use a comfortable drafting chair (not stool) for when I felt like sitting. To long in any one position gets uncomfortable. One reason to get up and walk around once in a while.

This debate sounds like a pub debate to me. Some people prefer to stand at the bar; some prefer to sit down. Standing should always be an option.

I know there's no good in standing up all day that's for sure, but the same goes for sitting. That's one of the reasons why I would like an adjustable desk, then I could get up or sit whenever I feel like it and still work.

As a field guy, I must say that I find this thread so fascinating :) What's the best water cooler?
