Patrick,
Thats an excellent idea that I'm sure our guys will appreciate. It's unfortunate that I only get the opportunity to use SW about a dozen times a year because most of the work we do doesn't require it. I'm the production designer for a custom sign company. Corel Draw & Illustrator...
Updraft,
Wow!
That was extremely informative. Excellent tutorial! I learned quite a bit from you just now, and am going to keep your document as a guide for the future. Thank you very much for taking the time to help, and even more for teaching me some
new approaches and features. There is no...
Pat,
I took your advice and revised my extruded cut to leave one side straight. (I can mirror the radiused edge to this side in the flat pattern). I was able to get a flat pattern, but it threw some errors with it that I don't quite follow, and am not sure if they are of any consequence...
Fellow users,
I've created a lofted bend sheet metal part. I then used an extruded cut to get the desired shape. The part will now not unfold. I've been trying to create this shape in a way that can be "flattened" for two days now. I have drawn it 3 different ways, and each time it will not...
Thanks for the reply,
I'm working on that right now. If you open the drawing attached, you can see where I've made a 3d sketch and created a surface, still no luck getting it to become sheet metal in order to "flatten" it though. I'm kinda stuck at this...
This new drawing I've attached should make things more clear. I've managed to create a 3d sketch of the sheet metal object I need. Now I just need to know how to convert it to sheet metal.
Any help is appreciated,
-Dan
SW...
Hi,
Thanks for taking a look at my post. I'm trying to create a sheet metal bottom for an object I've drawn. I'm not sure how to go about it so that SW will let me "flatten" the sheet metal bottom. If you open the attached part, the bottom will need to cover the entire open portion of the...
Again, you are Awesome! The convert entities is like a magic wand! I also just learned you can create a lofted bend from a 3d sketch to a 2 sketch. Very useful information.
Thank you,
-Dan
O.k,
Now I've got the front and back sheet metal components drawn. I created an assembly from the to of them for a good "visual". All I have left is the sheet metal radius top cap, but I don't know how to create the reference geometry to make this part. It would involve lofting between the...
Thank you Mr. Limey... you are pretty much Awesome!!
While I may be wrong, I'm starting to feel like this project is at least within the realm of possibility :)
Yes :) it is typical.
Thanks for your help with this. Over the past couple hours I've come up with a lofted bend sheet metal part. It is sloped and curved when seen in top view, but still needs a radius at the top when seen from the front
view. I tried to achieve this with an extruded cut, but...
CorBlimeyLImey:
1. Can this be created with a lofted bend?
2.Is there no way to save a newer version SW file so it's compatible with older versions?
3. How would you recommend drawing this accuratley with the slope on the face, even it it can't be unfolded, it would still be nice to...
Attached is where I have attempted to draw this wall of panels, but I haven't been able to do it correctly because it's supposed to be on an angle which would make the bottom of the panels have a radius as well. Also, even as it's drawn... the software will not let me dimension the panels as...
I have a week to get this drawn and dimensioned for production. I don't know how to do it. Its a wall that is radiused in the plan view and front elevation view. The face of it also slopes. To make matters more difficult, it's being covered with expensive ACM panels that need to be cut perfect...
Thanks guys,
I had no idea the miter flange was capable of that, nor did I know you could insert a sketch on an edge. That was a an excellent video, this will be useful.
However, I wasn't able to get this to work mitering two different profiles like I had to do in the first examples I...
Hi,
If you ever take notice of cornices or "moulding" on the top of buildings or signs, you may notice that the profile you see on the face isn't always the profile you see from a side view. If different at all, it's typically that many members of the profile are the same height, but are...
**For anyone looking at this thread in the future,
I found the solution to be creating this same shape through "lofting" instead of "sweeping". The sheet metal tools allow you to make a lofted bend this way. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me why it wouldn't work the other way too, but...
O.k. your hired :)
&
Very well put.
Which of the 3 software you are familiar with has been the most helpful for you in dealing with sheet metal? Before I put everything into Solidworks, I want to know if in your opinion it is going to best meet our needs? We are a large scale custom...
