    #delete all

It deleted all entities on the screen. Occasionally there are entities that are left on the screen that can not be selected and end up causing issues.

Problem export to IGES and I-DEAS

Also there are old non supported options for importing iges and other files that seemed to work better. they are only accessible from hidden menu. I-deas tech support should be able to get you to them if you ask about them.

Problem export to IGES and I-DEAS

A better method would be to export a parasolid. I-deas can read this is too (its not an extra cost option). you may have to change the extension or manually select the file since i-deas will be looking for a file withe a .x_t or .x_b extension (text or binary).

Is there an easier way to selecting all interior/exterior surfaces?

I did not see the option for selecting tangent surfaces. I am aware Ansys has that feature. I will have to look closer. As for what surface to apply loads to. I thought of that but used the interior surfaces so reports would look a little more understandable to the not so sharp. And because...

Is there an easier way to selecting all interior/exterior surfaces?

I am trying to analysis a roto-molded tank to see how it will stand up under vacuum. its just a pain to select all the surfaces one at a time.

Is there an easier way to selecting all interior/exterior surfaces?

Is there an alternate way of selecting all the interior/exterior surfaces of model then manually selecting them? I know other fea packages would had ways of doing this. Boxing in helps a little but not to much when you have most of surfaces selected.

    LIBRARY MANAGEMENT

Ok, it sounds like it is not the second issue. I have not been using i-deas for some time so i don't recall what exactly you need to look for. If i recall i think the message window or the dmadmin tool will tell u what files it is having issues with. I think you have to delete the file on...

    LIBRARY MANAGEMENT

it's been ages, but GTAC can fix this. it's either a move was not completed because something crashed when checking in or out. I library check with dmadmin tool can help you find and fix this. Don't hold me to this but i think deleting the chk out and library clean is what fixes this. Or...

Trade off of Graphics Card V Processor

Are you sure that your IT guy understands what you need? I think I worked for the same company that you work for. I was VC66's manager for a while. 64bit windows 7 is the way to go. I would go with a i7 if you could 6 gig's of ram, or an i5 wire 6 or 8 gigs, depending on you what your IT guy...

    Can I move our TDM?

Depending on how much data you have, I would suggest creating a new tdm on the network drive and doing the export and import route. for one it's safer and you can double check that everything moved over. and you can still work if the network tdm does not work for some reason. Your longest wait...

    Obtaining licenses from another company

From what I recall licenses can not be transferred or sold between companies. The only way is if one company is bought by another company.

Paper to CAD bussiness at home ??

Other direction to look into is the resellers. For the software that is still sold by resellers, like SW, use them for potential contacts and see if they would like to work with you too. Also try to team up with other looking to do them same thing, in case you get a lot of work that you can't...

"File has been moved or deleted: Must reconnect to file"

The ideas TDM is looking for the files in a specific location and it is not finding them. In manage libraries you can look to see where it is looking for the file and what the file name is. From this you should be able to determine if its just the files are in the wrong place or if its a...

    I-deas Drafting to NX

It can be done with the Content Migration Manager. It's free and really not that tough to set up and can be done w/o teamcenter. Drawings seem to come over fine. I have used I-deas extensively and only dabbled in NX. But i did transfer a decent size assembly and all the part and related...

    my

Is the license server up and running? is this isolated to one computer or is it all i-deas computers? Did you loose connection to some of you network drives that are mapped to where your setting stored? Did you kick the network cable loose? Are the license server and the computer that you...

    Ideas - NX 6 - convert

The Content Migration Manager (CMM) worked well on the drawings and related models. If you call your rep you can get everything you need to try it. it would be nicer if i-deas and NX were both using teamcenter, but to test transfer and conversion you can get everything you need from your...

Electroless Nickel Plating, I need a better understanding

As I understand it there are basically two methods or processes to do Electroless Nickel Plating. The end results are the same but the process to get there it what is different. One process requires more prep work and uses more environmentally friendly chemicals the other is less work but uses...

Anybody managing Solidworks data with Teamcenter?

I saw a demo from a siemens rep on using teamcenter to manage sw data. It looked pretty straight forward, i am guessing the biggest challenge is the setting it up in teamcenter. other then that it was a installed like any other add-in and did everything you would expect it to do.

Corrosion and Eear Protection of 380 Cast Aluminum

I'm looking coatings to protect aluminum (380 cast aluminum) from wear and corrosion from chlorine bleach, ammonia, industrial cleaners, tap water, and effluent. I have looked at electro-less nickel and the cost is on the high side, what other alternatives are there?
