    Total part cut length

I'm looking for a way to have our total part cut/burn length (combination of outside & inside) for our SW part files and have this total distance information displayed on our drawings? I'm sure this would involve a macro or something similar to achieve this and was wondering if anyone else has...

    Linear pattern help

Thanks CBL I used the vary sketch feature and got the results I wanted. I guess I should have prefaced my post that I was using SW12. Thanks so much.

    Linear pattern help

I have a slot that I need to pattern. The number of instances that I need to pattern is 11 with a distance of 1.125 between the slots. One end of the slot needs to stay on the same horizontal axis and the other end needs to shortenwith each instance by .0773". I'm pretty sure that this can be...

ctopher yes they do. Thank you very much. Much appreciated guys!

    Assembly configurations

Ok I think I got it figured out somewhat. I used the toggle clamp I had modeled up and added an "opened" configuration and used mates to achieve what I wanted.

    Assembly configurations

Jeff, Yes I've looked thru the help sections of SolidWorks. Maybe in tis instance I should go thru this certain area again.

    Assembly configurations

Ok I looked thru the alternate position help section that CBL linked above. Using the example that SW has in that help file I'm assuming that the configurations you would have would be open and closed for the toggle clamp shown, how would you create those configurations in the assembly file? I...

    Assembly configurations

I have them set up with a limit/distance mate in the assembly. What I want to be able to show is both the retracted and extended positions on the drawings to show the distance that the part can travel.

    Assembly configurations

I've got an assembly that has a part that telescopes in and out and I want to show a it in both states, fully extended and compressed. What's would be the best way to do this? I'm thinking by using a configuration in the assembly but I'm not really sure how to make it happen the way I want it...

    Sheet metal question

MadMango, At what point would I added the "stitched" section in SolidWorks that would be cut out after forming?

    Sheet metal question

Drawoh, There is no machining performed on this piece. The shop will use a hand plasma to cut out the stitches to remove the remaining material. I'm stuck with the size of the box as it is. The material is 12ga A36 which I can't deviate from either.

    Sheet metal question

Eltron thanks for the reply. Yes I could put a note on the drawing to call that out which I will probably end up doing anyways but I'm using the dxf file from the flat pattern for our laser to cut the part out. I was trying to eliminate me having to "massage" the dxf file. Hoping that SW had a...

    Sheet metal question

I've got a sheet metal part that has some cut outs that are rather close to bend lines and when we go to bend them the cut out areas flare out. Is there anyway to leave material inside the cut out in my model so that they can open the cut out after forming? I've attached a picture of what my...

    Help with modeling a part.

All of them actually. I'm stumped as to how I should begin my model and how to add the angled parts. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Help with modeling a part.

Let me clarify a little bit of where my problem is. The angles are what's messing me up, that's my main problem in modeling this part.

    Help with modeling a part.

Can you help a guy out please. What would be the best way to model this part. I guess I have an idea of how to start modeling it but it doesn't work out for me. It's .024 thick 304SS. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Flat pattern in a drawing not showing up.

I created an extrusion first, shelled it to create my thickness and then inserted bends. I've attached a screen shot of the part.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=da6e3689-2bf2-4384-bbec-2f8e855ac0d9&file=acc_plate.pdf

Flat pattern in a drawing not showing up.

CBL, I looked through some of my previous parts and noticed that they didn't include this grayed out part so that's my reason for deleting it. Only after deleting this feature did my views show up correctly.
