    2009 Stability

Thanks CorBlimeyLimey, we have been doing some serious upgrades on our workstations, to handle the switch. That much we are prepared for.

    2009 Stability

Hello, just wondering if anyone has any input on how stable 2009 is? We are still running 2006 at our company, but have made the purchase of 2009, and are curious if we should wait for a couple service packs or if it's stable as is. We understand that we are going to have some learning to do...

    Linking text values

I've been away from AutoCAD for a few years, and I was never a master of it in the first place. However, I have a question on linking text....Can it be done? From what I can recall I don't think it's possible, but maybe there are tricks that I don't know about. I've got a situation where a...

    Derived Standard from Ansi Metric

I had no idea, thanks for the heads up again. You've really helped me out with this whole derived standards deal. Thanks Chris

    Derived Standard from Ansi Metric

Is anyone aware of any issues with hole callouts of metric tapped holes, when created from a derived standard? I created a new standard based on the Ansi Metric standard, and now when I place a tapped hole, the hole callout is wrong. It's only giving me the inch size of the major dia. with an...

thank you, that was the setting I was looking for.

    File, Open - Dialog Box

A few days ago, I was working with a corrupted file (trying to restore it), and afterword I lost the dialog box when you open or save a file. When I try to open or save a file, the file path needs to be typed in, in the command line. I'm not able to browse for the file location. This is very...

    COSMOSXPRESS question - loading

For your example, if you entered 10,000 both times that you designated the load area, it applied 10,000 in each location. So, you would have a total of 20,000 lbs. Chris

    Database files for toolbox stuff--edit?

Are you using 2005? 2004 will allow you to do what I'm about to suggest, 2005 just has more things to tinker with. Go to tools, options, Data Options(under System Options) and click the Edit Standards Data button. Here, you'll be able to select and "disable" the standards you don't want/need...

    O-Ring Configurations & BOM

engAlright, Yes, I beleive it was you who pointed me in the direction of this method. I agree with you, this behaviour does not make sense. If anything it should be the opposite, and assume they're like parts, unless "User Specified" otherwise.

    O-Ring Configurations & BOM

I'm using 2005, and I may be doing things wrong, but to get this to work I have had to do the following. At the configuration, I had to change the BOM option from "Document Name" to "User Specified Name" and then type in the part number. I don't unerstand why document name didn't work, but it...

    Toolbox settings copy

I'm guessing you probably need to setup your toolbox to be shared on a network. That is probably what you're really after. It's generaly not a good idea to have each workstation setup with it's own toolbox.

Bending a non Sheet Metal Part

MattP, I too wondered this very question. We also do a lot of forming of "structural" materials, angles, channels, rounds, etc... My reasoning for this feature was to have a formed and unformed profile, much like sheetmetal, without having to create a configuration of one of the two shapes...

Model dimensions by default stretched off the sheet

I know exactly what these guys are talking about, this happens to me a lot also. I have been able to somewhat, but not consistantly, pin it down to the way the views are inserted into the drawing. If I'm in a part and start a drawing (I have my template set to auto place the views and dims)...

Sheet Metal - Miter Flange doesn't flatten

Yeah, that's kind of the conclusion I've come to. I did model it using thin features, and that is something I need to work on doing more of. I'm new to this sheet metal game, so as I said, I've got a lot to learn. Anyway, I've got a part that works now, it's just curious that it does that, I...

Sheet Metal - Miter Flange doesn't flatten

That is the problem. That first flange is being created without the bend information. Try as many times as you want, it wont put it in. However, if you go to the opposite end, and start the flange there, it will work. I don't understand why, but it does.

Sheet Metal - Miter Flange doesn't flatten

Well, I see that link didn't work out. It should work if you type it in. If it does not, let me know if you're really interested in this and I'll find a way to post it, otherwise no big deal. Thanks

Sheet Metal - Miter Flange doesn't flatten

Here is a link to the part file, if you're interested, you'll see what I mean. http://nutting.150m.com/MFlange1.zip The edges are fine, and the flange was being created just fine (visualy), but when you go to flatten it, that's where the problem occured. Another user found that if the flange...

Sheet Metal - Miter Flange doesn't flatten

Just to clarify, I'm not having any problem getting the miter flange created. It's being created without any bend information. The second miter flange is created as it should be, with bend information. So, when I go to flatten the part, only one miter flange is flatened. With some help from...

Sheet Metal - Miter Flange doesn't flatten

I have created a fairly simple sheet metal part, long rectangle shaped base-flange with 2 short sketched bends, and then I add a miter flange to one side. The flange is added with no problem, except the "Miterbends" are not placed in the feature, if you expand the flange in the tree. What I...
