We are on 4.0 It happened a few weeks after we went to 4.0, so I dont see an issue there.

For some strange reason, when I insert bolts from the toolbox into an assembly, they have the rebuild icon attached, and will not rebuild even with a cntrl-Q?
It just started happening the other day. Its not every config of the bolts however. For example, in a current assembly I have 1/2-13 X...
I love how some of the features in Solidworks are so simple, that its the last thing you would think to try to solve a question.

Well it seems as if my computer is having a number of issues today. I rebooted and opened the assembly and everything works like normal. I have never had an issue with it before, so I should have automatically suspected the computer. Our assemblies always contain two rails, and while they are...
When I set a part in an assembly to be excluded from the BOM, it still shows up. Any Ideas?

Ctrl-Q doesnt work either. Guess not too many people are using Smart Components, maybe there is a reason!

I have O-Rings that I have turned into smart components. The Smart Component cuts the O-Ring groove geometry into the plate its is placed on. When I mate the O-rings in my assembly, I mate a circle sketch thats in the O-Ring part, concentric to holes on the block that seats flat against the...

Im really glad to see that this post has'nt been deleted and considered against forum rules. While it doesnt directly contain technical info, the information provided is something that I think every visitor here can use. We all come here to get information and to have our questions answered...
SW World 2006 was my first time at one of the world conferances. Overall I enjoyed my time there. There were two presentations that I sat in that I think were a little below what I would have expected, but there also were some really great ones (including the dead batteries in the mouse one...
Weird: I flipped the section and it sectioned ok. Flipped it back, and its still a partial section. I also checked dangling relations, and found none. I also dragged the sections further and no luck. So I got it to work, and I can live with the direction going a different way, but would...

So I saved my drawing of an assembly that contained some sections on friday. This morning I open it, and it tells me that one of my sections is a partial cut, and will now make that sectaion a partial section. I cant figure out why it does that. I can see in the resulting section that some...

As a user group leader, I figured I would try and put together a technical presentation that I could give to our group. I choose mates and relations for two reasons. First, when I first started using SW, this is an area that took me a while to understand. Second, there looks to be numerous...
Yeah, looks like there isnt an easy way to do this untill 2007 comes out. Also not much of a chance of getting PDMworks either. Looks like Rob's idea is the quickest.
Thanks for the input.

I know I can use the File>Find Referances to copy a complete assembly to another location. Is there a way to also copy the drawings? I would like the copied assembly and drawings to be associated with eachother, but be completely disassociated with the source assembly and drawings.

I normally sketch a construction line and dim its location. I then use either the left, right, or center justification.
