Thanks for the help! I accidently replied to that other thread lol Here is a copy paste from it.
Unfortunately that doesn't work. It will snap to either the left or the right side of the symbol, but not the center.

Under normal operation, it will function exactly like you showed in the AVI in that post... but some parts that I have to work on don't operate like that...
Hello all! I'm having an issue in NX9 where I can't position a Datum symbol directly under the extension line, but only in some NX parts files. NX will only let me add them with a stub, where it sits offset to the left/right.
I've tried inheriting the annotation settings from a known good...
Or if it works better with the tool, not even transitioning into a sketch. Just "denting" the solid body at the top-center would do exactly what I need it to as well I'd assume.
Thanks John!
So I played around with Global Shaping and it seems to be exactly what I'm looking for, but I can't seem to find a tutorial to get it to do quite what I'm looking for. If anyone has experience with Global Shaping and can point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it...
Hello! I have an unusual request from a customer of mine, at least compared to most of the modeling that I do, but essentially what I'm looking for is a way to bend/morph/deform a parametric model (if possible)... similar to how the modifiers work in 3DsMAX for anyone familiar with it.
To be...
Hi John. So I played around with the lightweight representation function and I can verify that it's working visually, but it doesn't do much to help performance. I looked at a particularly demanding assembly, for example, and saw that just a single component part contained 2700 solid bodies and...
That's something we've never used before. What exactly does this function do? I assume just shows rough/less accurate approximation of the assembly geometry?
edit: So I tried loading an assembly with "use lightweight representations" checked in load options and didn't notice much of a...
A little of both. For example, going from drafting to modeling can sometimes take a pretty long time depending on the size of the model. Also, from within modeling, trying to unhide a component can sometimes take quite a while. So it seems that pretty much anything that requires UG to redraw the...
What is the common hardware bottleneck when using large/complex models in UG? I'm trying to put together a 'test' machine at my company for future workstation upgrades. Most of our computers are running a 2.67Ghz Intel Xeon with 16GB of ram and a FirePRO V7800 (2GB). For the most part, the...
Thanks John. I appreciate you taking the time to look into this for us. I took a look and I don't see that option under general. I do see one sort of similar that says "save dialog box settings between sessions" and it's enabled.
Here is an image of it.
I assume you're not talking about the Windows registry?
What folder should they give be giving us read/write access to? (I'll just forward this request over to them)
Thanks again
Steve
Thanks John. So since we don't have Administrator privlidges, would we just have to have someone from our IT staff run NX8 "as administrator" so we can set it up for out own prefrences? I'd assume that, at that point, they should save ok?
I appreciate the heads up.
So our office recently went to NX8.0 at our customers request. Nobody in the office, however, can seem to permanently change the selection settings for it. Everytime UG is closed, it resets back to the default.
So for example, I prefer to setup my selection rule to "Inside/Crossing" and I also...
thanks for the Advice John. As luck would have it, I decided to do a little investigating in the BIOS this morning and decided to turn off hyperthreading as I've had problems with it in other software. I haven't had a single crash since.
We'll see how it does over the next few days, but it...
So I'm not sure anyone here could really do much to help, but figured that maybe someone has been through this and figured out any conflicts that causes NX to panic and crash to desktop.
I just got a new machine for work around 6 months ago and at first, everything was fine. Then about a month...
