UG NX Assembly BOM & Structure

cowski, I have spent a great deal of time looking at the journaling under NX 3. Don't get your hopes up to high. UG has used "wrappers" to do the VBA interfacing since they still run native in the UNIX world they are saddled with the problem of cross platform inteopreabilty and there is no VB...

UG NX Assembly BOM & Structure

cowski, By the way, it is a bit of jolt to go from a modern well built API enabled system like SW to something like UG. It's just so nice to be able to "talk" to your data programmatically with such ease! I miss it already and I have hardly scratched the surface. Thanks again for your help...

UG NX Assembly BOM & Structure

cowski, The extraction portion of this is very helpful. Your macro is also very useful. Once I get the data into a known and understood format I can send you a tool I have developed for Excel that makes working with large assemblies very easy. I can send you a sample if your interested. I...

UG NX Assembly BOM & Structure

Ok this is going to be a little long, I apologize up front. We are newish to UG NX (running NX 3 & TeamCenter), We are transitioning from SoildWorks. I have built an enormous number of software tools to extract data and information from SolidWorks and manipulate it and collate it. The same...

    Assembly Level Feature

I have to admit I am not a big UG fan (hey CAD systems are like religions) having this use group is a godsend (catch that.. religion-godsend). You folks are always helpful and concise. To be honest, I don't even bother calling our internal help folks as this crew is light years ahead of them...

    Assembly Level Feature

I need to create a hole that appears only at the assembly level that intersects multiple parts. The idea being a "drill upon assembly" process. How is this accomplhished (if it can be) in NX2? TIA

    LM License Server Insight

Hi, Was looking at our server status for the Flex LM server for UG NX 2.0. Noted the we have the following Users of ADVDES: (Total of 750 licenses issued; Total of 95 licenses in use) Users of ADVDES_solid_modeling: (Total of 750 licenses issued; Total of 41 licenses in use) What is the...

    Background Color To White

I assume then the argument is plain vs. graduated. I have done this and it had no effect on UG. The file I edited is in the UG directory. Do I need to copy it elsewhere to get NX "see" it. Will this alone make the background white? Guy Edkins

    Background Color To White

Want to change the background of new parts to plain (not graduated) and to be white. I assume the ug_english.def file. What lines need to be changed? TIA Guy Edkins

    Variations of parts and assemblies

I found the Edit Arrangement function but I cannot get it to show a component in two different locations. Will it work with components that are not mated/constrained? Guy Edkins

    Variations of parts and assemblies

Thnaks for the info on "arrangements" but where do I access that function? Guy Edkins

    Variations of parts and assemblies

Trying to get my head around Ref Sets and Categories and how they are applied. Here is my current paradigm: In Solidworks you can create "configurations" in parts or assemblies. In parts you could create a config for the purposes of having different size bolts, i.e. lengths, dia's, etc. I see...

Thanks Chris, that will do it! Guy Edkins

    Measuring a diameter directly

Can one measure a diameter directly with Analysis > Distance or do you have to use Arc Length and calculate? Guy Edkins

    Cloning Assembly and all children

Paul, If I read your response correctly the UG will ask me the name of each sub-component as it walks throught the assembly and I need to type it in the file dialog box? Is there any way to avoid this if thats true? Guy Edkins
