Does a material condition applied to a datum or tolerance zone in a single segment of a multiple single segment position tolerance have to be uniformly applied to all like datums or tolerances in every segment? I know it does in a composite position tolerance, but I'm not sure about multiple...
The hole callout tool must use the input data from the Hole Wizard rather than measure the actual hole. When you add head clearance, SW does not update the C’Sink dia. in the Hole Wizard.... so the hole callout doesn’t change either.
I get the same results as WDickman.
I used the Head Clearance & Type option, set the head clearance to .010 and select "Increased C'Sink".
The C'Sink measures .428, but the hole callout tool still shows a .411 C'Sink.
As a work around, you can change the C'Sink Dia. to .428 and...
I did this once.
Create one thread using a helical sweep in a straight line tangent to the arc.
Rotate and copy that single thread about the centerline of the arc.
It's not geometrically correct, but it makes for a pretty good visual representation.
I should have done a better search of this forum. You guys came up with the solution a couple of weeks ago.
1.) Save As – Copy the old part to a new part
2.) Mirror all Solid Bodies
3.) Delete the original Solid Bodies
Whalaa…. I have my mirrored part. It has no external references that I have...

I had considered that approach, but it still maintains the external reference.
Top Down / In Context / Derived parts are great when they are part of a single cohesive design. But, if you just what to steal some geometry from an old part to manipulate into a new totally unrelated...
I need to create a new part that is similar to a part that I have made in the past only the opposite hand (mirrored) and some of the feature sizes are different. It would save me a ton of time if I could use Mirror Part, but that gives me a derived part with all the external reference baggage...
If your gears and/or fasteners are standard parts that you are not likely to edit in the future, you can export them as parasolids and re-import them back into SW. The file sizes drop by about 2/3 with the consequent performance improvement.
I still have and use my SW99 User's Guide. The pages are dog eared w/ lots of notes in the margin. However, four releases later, it's loosing it's relevance. I like manuals much better than trying to navigate the help file or my stack of four "What's New" books. A comprehensive user's...
Our IT dept. is finally getting around ordering new computers. They are planning on purchasing them with flat panel monitors. Because flat panels have a slower refresh rate than CRT’s, they asked if that was an issue with SWX. I haven’t run SWX with a flat panel, so I thought I would post the...
