dear All thank you for your reply.
Dear MagBen
thank you for your comment
could you please give a reference for Ferritic SS?
there is a Russian alternative for original stainless steel with around 4 % Al in content. and 14-16 percent of Chrome. I think the Al here is very important and...
Dear All,
according to AISI, 430 grade should have 1.2 % of AL content, as well as ch15ju5 according to Russian Gost Standard.
because of some limitation in material supply, we are going to substitute 430 for ch15ju5. to do so, we took a sample from supplier of 430 stainless steel and have...
Dear dbooker630
Thank you for your valuable reply
actually, the designer of the part have specified the material specification as 1.7225(42CrMo4)+QT on the drawing.
so it seems situation you described is true. and we need to first QT the part and then induction harden it.
just one...
Greeting !
I take following part to heat treatment lab, for hardening as per description on the following drawing. they say this part should hardened using induction method, and in induction method we cannot give this part hardness more than 50 HRC. and also the hardening depth would be...
Dear ScottyUK
thanks for your reply and introducing supply sources.
actually, thanks to hours of searching the net regarding this issues, I know about supplier very well. Further, the end user of resistors also knows about suppliers. nonetheless, they are not willing to supply from these...
Dear itsmoked
Thanks for your reply
I know some of these companies but because of some issues, I need to go through reverse engineering a current model of Grid Resistor for a specific model of truck.
But, as you predicted I have experienced failure and this time I want to go through...
Hello
I need to design a Grid Resistor for a Given electrically driven Haul truck.
we have two 1400Hp traction motor for propulsion. in retarding mode they will, of course, generate some more power, let's say around 1600. considering these two there will be up to 3200 HP in retarding mode. We...
thank you dear all,
During welding, We got some distortion in the plate!. I have the plate post weld heat treated to compensate distortion. but I am afraid of losing mechanical/physical properties.
I think I am gonna reject this plate completely and try and new plate.
following link will direct you to the mechanical/physical properties of the 4031 stainless steel.

dear Seldstan
the thickness was 20mm in the as-received condition. after machining the slot place we have 8mm thickness at the bottom of the slot.
regards.
dear EdStainless,
I am not that many acquaintances with welding terminology. and don't know about N&T or Q&T. if they stand for normalise& temper or Quench and Temper, I am not really sure about this.
and do you know what kind of electrode or wire is needed?
what about the magnetic properties?
dear Metegr /Ed stainless
the grade is 1.4031/420, as the certificate provided by the seller says.
regarding the heat treat condition, the plate is in as-received condition and we have conducted no heat treatment on the plate, and none of the heat treatment operations are needed for the final...
Dear All,
I have my ferromagnetic type stainless steel 4031 grade machined to the desired shape. since there was a slut with 1600(length)*80(width)*10(depth)mm dimension on the plate wich the machining operator was going to machine it to the mentioned dimensions.
but he has mistaken and...
Dear All,
It is while I am considering using the tungsten carbide coating to protect my desired surface from abrasion.
but it is a dilemma for me to chose between of HVOF and Detonation Gun coating methods.
has anybody useful information about these coating methods? their pros and cons...
Dear Hendersdc,
thanks for helpful comment.
yes, i share your veiw point. each of 6 separate coil are first formed in a trapizoidal-like shape then are bent to form the desired shape. afterward they are assembled.
the main concern is what is the winding method? my guess is it should to be a...
Dear All,
there are more pictures of the naked state of the magnet coil here. any Idea about fabrication method, process? and tooling?
I have to say that wrongly I had posted this thread on the Solidworks forum. sorry about that.
dear all,
thanks for your helps and idea.
Dear Drafting man special thanks to you. your model gave me the clue...
Dear JgKRI,
thanks for your idea, but it will not work. it was the modeling strategy firstly i follow. but when i swept along the 3d sketch, the profile and the sketch did not...
Dear friends;
I want to model following coil, although its 3 days that I am toiling away on modeling this 3d shape, but I have not any breakthrough.
can you help me by suggesting a modeling strategy for this coil in Solidworks?
any help and comments are really appreciated.
thanks
