    Cannot save level of detail

I see that message when the assy I'm working on is used elsewhere and is currently open. This includes upper level assys and drawings that may be using a LOD of the assy being edited. Close what's open/where used and you should be able to save

renamed part still has the old number

I've run across this as well for bot CC and non-CC parts, but I'm still on Inventor 11. Only fix I can see until upgrading to 2010 (and hope that fixes it), is in the Occurence Tab in the iProps. There you are allowed to change the name in the tree.

Depression affecting job performance -what if anything to tell boss?

Talk to HR first. That's what they are there for. They will help you work it out with your boss and help you and your boss handle this situation. And don't forget your doctor notes that explain the medication and your condition.

    Custom iProperties in Drawing BOM

I created an iAssembly with multiple configurations. The assembly contains two iParts that vary in length. I'm trying to display the BOM to show all the configurations. It works beautifully until we get to the Custom Tab iProperties that also need to be displayed in the BOM for the individual...

    R11 - Numerous Errors - Please Help

Our company is pretty old-school so a lot of the folks here are not aware that backwards compatibility does not exist with 3-D cad programs...thus the accident. I'm new to Inventor (and this company) but have a lot of SolidWorks experience. I've seen errors with SolidWorks and Office in the...

    R11 - Numerous Errors - Please Help

We're using Inventor R11 SP.4 A co-worker accidentally upgraded to 2009. He uninstalled and re-installed R11. After installing R11, he no longer had access to the Content Center Files. We couldn't figure out why so we ran a repair on Inventor. This opened up more issues and still did not...

APPLICATION SETTINGS- AUTO EDIT DIMENSIONING NOT STICKING

Well I'm fairly new to Inventor, but my first guess would be a change in the template may be overriding your settings? My other guess is if you recently installed a new patch. Patches fix things and break things at times.

    .newVer

I get this when our IT replicates the server. It's very annoying. Perhaps ask IT if they are fussing with the server your files are stored on when this next occurs? Not sure what else could cause it though, sorry.

    Incorrect parts list quantity

I did find how to reset the value of whatever was changed. Just delete the entry and the BOM will pull the info from the model.

    Incorrect parts list quantity

In the Assembly Panel, there is a "Bill of Materials" feature that will pull up your BOM. In my view, a manually over-written BOM notes what's change in bold blue text. I'm not sure how to reset this to pull the data from the model if it is over-written though.

    Incorrect parts list quantity

BOM override within the model or the drawing's parts list? There are a couple places a manual override can be done.

    Representations in a Part?

Is it possible to have view representations in a part? Or any tricks to what I'm trying to achieve? I have parts in which the profile and some hole locations can be rough cut (plasma, waterjet), but then I'd then like to unsupress the machining features for a secondary machining step, like...

    Working in a research Hospital

Sounds like a great place to start your career. You will learn a lot about ISO and FDA requirements and conformities in the medical field, which is good to note on a resume. It also has it's own challenges in terms of what types of materials you can use that are safe for people, the equipment...

why won't bom export to excel???

My default export option is to an Access database file (.mdb), so I change it to export to an Excel file instead. Maybe that's happening to you?

    Minature Linear Slide Motion Problems

Look up the manufacturer's specifications for this rail. A lot of manufacturer's have preferred methods for installing their rails to avoid this problem you are having. They vary from manf.-to-manf., and vary based on the type of rail you are using as well. What you are experiencing is pretty...

Pick part in subassembly to explode?

There's an option in the explode feature tree to include the sub-assembly or individual part (near the bottom I think). I'd give you the actual name, but I've recently switched to Inventor and can't remember it off the top of my head.

    Vault Drawing Control

From what I understand, Vault controls versions, not revisions. If you are looking for something more automated on check-in, you may have to look at ProductStream. The control you have is based on permissions your administrator gives you.

Aramco - been contacted by them for work, advice wanted.

I'm a woman and lived in Saudi for 5 years. I was able to cope with it just fine, but I was also there pre-Gulf War. I met many people, local and other foreigners, and consider it a great experience. I learned a lot living there. I don't think the Saudi government will allow you both there...

Freelance Designer - asked to work onsite

It could be your industry or your region that affects the company's decision to hire or contract you. It could also be the mentality of the company. Some are used to outsourcing work and like contractors and others are very old-school and like to keep everything close to home and hire you on...
