An anti-backlash gear with module 3

Other posibility is to add an anty roll-back bearing to a gear of the same diameter on the same axle, and position it such that the only thing it can do is rotate against the normal direction of rotation. If you install this interlocking against the other gear, the anti-roll back bearing will...

Resistance pulley - Does this exist?

Try an adjustable rotational damper as is used in automatic closing firedoors etc. It utilises a fluid with shear-speed dependend viscosity, and allows you to set the friction-effect within certain limits. With slow speed, there's little friction, with high speed, there's a lot. Related...

    find parts on internet

Please take the time to look through old postings, as you're not the first to ask. Saving you part of the trouble: www.web2cad.com Regards, Pekelder

Using 2D AutoCAD to produce Profiles in SE

Copy the profile (oen it in Drawing) and paste it in a sketch in Part. Use the AutoConstraint-macro to remove all double lines and connect connected lines, measure the most important dimensions (and correct is wrong) and use the sketch the way you normally would. This has worked for me with...

    Saving assembly as single part

Is it possible to save an assembly, consisting of different parts, as a single part consisting of one solid body with the same outline as the assembly? In Solid Edge this is possible. In this way you can create a welded part from different parts. In higher assemblies you can just load the welded...

Where can I find data to approximate coef of friction?

Rust forms most of the time under influence of moisture. Wet, rusted steel can ben very 'slippery'under load, since the water is retained by the rust. Steel is liable to have condensation on the surface. I agree with CoryPad, try to test it! Regards, Pekelder

    Bleeding washers...

As you are making Higway signs, I suppose you will have to install them on site. Why not use battery powered torque-wrenches (impulse type or direct torque, depending on wanting low or high accuracy of the torque) which you can use for fastening and which will stop or rattle at reaching the...

    Threads not showing

Ah, so I was misjudging. I didn't know SE could show you a thread as a texture that simple. Have to try that one. Thanx Scott! Regards, Pekelder

    Threads not showing

With the risc of misjudging: SE doesn't make thread vissible, unless you model a helical protrusion or cutout with the thread-form. Since thread is highly standardised, and the tools common, the thread doesn't have to be detailled in a drawing, a simple indication of size and length is enough...

    Two shafts assembled with glue

Welding and loctite will almost surely leave the loctite hamred, and thus you will end up with a welded coupling. So, when welding, skip the loctite. I've used loctite for connecting gears to shafts, works fine if you do the calculations right, but bear in mind that in case of...

    resaving a file

Yep, same hapened with us in version 8 and 10.. Bummer is, saving on your own computer (not over the network) will work. Relocating the file to the server, and everything is working again... It might have something to do with the windows-setup (NT4 we used), but we got over it by installing V12...

    Broken Dimensions on Detail Views

It's a bummer I'm not at a SE-console right now, but you can dimension a diameter with a broken dimention. It's an option in the Smart-dimension toolbar (the yellow dimension-thingy). It let's you place the dimension and select the break-off-point of the arrow. Try arrond, you'll bound to find...

Carrying over settings to another session of Solid Edge

Toolbars and backgrounds can be set by changing the template-files. Other customisations can be made to the various .txt-files such as holes.txt. You should backup these when you upgrade. Regards, Pekelder

    Ways to Compress Air

Why don't you use a spring-loaded device. You will have to 'recharge' it, but that can be done by hand. The storred energy is contained until use, and can be very powerfull. With it, you can drive a piston directly, giving you the power (pressure and volume) you need free to choose. Regards...

    Insert images

Hmm, plotting, you mean with pens on paper? I can imagine a plotter doesn't do bitmaps, since they are dots, not lines. You might want to convert your graphic in an vectorgraphic (wich gives you the problem back of inserting it into your drawing in the first place.. sorsy). Printing the BMP's on...

    Graphic Cards

Yep, GeForce-cards work perfect (NT4). Good performance at low prices. Regards, Pekelder

    Insert images

We're using an old template with graphics, so I don't know for sure if the method still works. We used .bmp, .jpg is not verry good in SE. We just CTRL+V'd it into the template, onto the background-sheet. Sometimes the paste-option will not work, but the CTRL+V does. Good luck! Regards, Pekelder

    Calculation of gear positions

EnglishMuffin, That's right, the elastic deflection was caused by dynamics, but the drawing helped to get a grip of the rotation recuired to get the CLUNCK in other words, to get an idea when things would go wrong, and what we could do to prevent is. Changing the first few teeth of the rack...

    Calculation of gear positions

Here's something else: I made a design where two pinions meshed with one rack (straight), and in which the rack could become disengaged from ither pinion. The two pinions where coupled with a timingbelt. The meshing was fairly easy to get right, BUT, mostly through the elasticity of the...

Can I update a drawing once its been moved?

Other way to do it: Open the drawing (that's the moment you normally see the 'link' has gone), click Edit, en than Link. You can change the linkt to the propper .PRT-file and update. The same is handy for making a number of drawings from simmular parts, where you change the part (something...
