Pick a PLC platform to learn on first. Even though they all use ladder logic, they are different enough you need to pick one and learn to be proficient in that software. I don't want to get into that discussion I know how to program in Modicon, GE, and Allen Bradly they are all very different...
I have been researching this myself. What I have found so far is you can use VB6 and Linx Pro. You need Pro because you have to Linx as a DDE server. I found a working example that you download (not the clock sync one) at MRPLC.com. Good Luck

What you looking has two common names. "Rectifier" or "Power Supply". I also think you should purchase one. The Amperage that you are talking about makes it hard to build.
Try searching for Power Supply first.

You don't need a PIC just go to Radio Shack and get a NULL MODEM for the 9 pin serial cable (If you have a serial port on your SLC). It works, PIC's stink! What is the Part Number on your SLC. I don't think you get DDE to work with LINX unless you get Linx Pro. Linx Lite comes with RSLogix.
I had all kinds of problems using the Modicon PLC, Concept and their Servo Control cards. I can't remember the name of the drives I used but I could look it up they WERE NOT compatible with the servo cards. We kept getting feedback faults. I did this job about 4 years ago. Since then I have 2...
It is called messaging. Look in the help screens in RSLogix under MSG. I hade 4 5/04's talking to each other on one machine. I used the DH+ on the SLC's. There was also a touchscreen on the DH+. The only thing you have to do is set up each PLC and touchscreen with a unique node number and set...
A VFD changes the Incoming the AC power to DC then back to AC. Almost any VFD will run on Single Phase in give 3 phase out. Just size the Drive 2x what the motor is rated for.
The motor should be at least 10-25% of the drive size depending on the drive. If it not some drives will give false...
